The buildings housing hostels have often had an interesting history, which makes them extra special as places to stay. It can be all sorts of things. The hostel at Gustafsberg, the closest to Uddevalla centre, is a rebuilt hot baths from the former spa resort period. At Bassholmen it is a former farm house and at Rörbäck, a summer colony. At Kärlingesund an old barn has been born again. Most of our hostels are on the coast but not the one at Bassholmen, although a boat is required to get there.
Örtagården, more inland, is a guest house run by the church. Torkelsröd is a stables set in the countryside and Kombo lies to the side of Herrestadsfjället and its walking trails.

In Ljungskile, the local Folk High School runs a hostel in July from where there is a wonderful view over Ljungskile bay.
