A café with a comtemplative atmosphere is Kulturbokhandeln Yerba, a little oasis with its own garden in the centre of town. If a cosy, French café style is more you, then Café Kochska Gränden could well fill the role. They also serve hot soups and salads. Caffeine addicts should take themselves to Coffee Stars for test tasting; as the name implies, it’s coffee that counts here. That home away from home feeling hits you when you sink into a relaxing leather sofa at Cactuz in Margretegärde-parken for a coffee break or fresh salad lunch.
If the more traditional is more your cup of coffee then why not the Rådhuscafe on Kungstorget, the large square in the middle of town. If a piece of sweet and creamy cake is your fancy, you won't be able to pass by Wienerkonditoriet's window. Einar’s is smaller and has preserved its traditional 1940s- 50s style. An extra special selection of bread is available here.
A coffee shop visit goes hand-in-hand with a shopping trip. At Ulvesund’s market gardeners - member of Västsvenk Mersmak (West Swedish More Taste) - you can buy your vegetables and then take in their current art exhibition. Kärrstegens Gård is close by with its interior design shop and on the old glassed-in veranda you can enjoy a cup as well as the view over Ljungkile Bay. If you are a flea market bargain hunter, take yourself to Backamo, where the market is found on the former barracks drill ground and Café Gläntebo is close at hand.
During the summer, pavement cafés and summer cafés pop up like mushrooms. You can take a cup at community centres, roadside churches, in the middle of town and out on the coast. Café Snäcken, at the traditional old spa resort of Gustafsberg, is one not to be missed. A classic summer café on the Byfjorden water’s edge, it's a treat just to sit there and gaze meditatively out over the water. Another cosy corner is the summer café Strandpromenaden at Skeppviken.
We surely have the cosy corner just for you, just for now. So why not simply sit yourself down, lean back and ENJOY!
