In Vänersborg, which is located on the southern tip of lake Vänern, there is lots to see and do for both adults and children. For centuries, the town has attracted visitors, who come for a variety of different reasons. Some come to enjoy the relaxed small town atmosphere, whilst others come to fish or enjoy a day at the beach, although most visitors tend to arrive in the town on their way to experience the wilderness of Kroppefjäll to the north or to catch a glimpse of the elks on the Halleberg and Hunneberg hills to the east. Vänersborg boasts a variety of different "Swedish" features, including forests, hills, plains, lakes and waterways, all of which are easily accessible for ramblers and for those who want to pick berries and wild mushrooms.
